Firmly Planted Goals + Accomplishments: Gearing up for a New School Year at FPHRC

The halls and classrooms of the Firmly Planted Homeschool Resource Center (FPHRC) will soon be filled with the happy sounds of students of all ages. After a quiet summer, staff and tutors are ready to welcome families to a new school year starting on Monday, September 9th. FPHRC will be hosting around 370 families, including over 100 brand new to our programs here at the Center. Almost 800 students will attend one or more of our 183 workshops. The Center has a variety of new workshops to offer this term including basketball, automotive technology, digital photography, costume design, boys hip hop, logic, ukulele, mashoonga (foam sword play), and Russian.

On August 27th and 29th our staff welcomed a crowd of new families as we hosted Family Orientation! FPHRC co founder, Heidi St. John, welcomed all with a word of encouragement before other staff members presented various topics on how things operate here at the Center. Lastly, we concluded with tours of our miracle building (as we like to call it). What we do here is quite unique and we take great care to guide families through each step to make sure they feel equipped and confident as they become a part of the FP Fam!

At FPHRC we want to offer more than just workshops for students. Our staff is putting together monthly workshops that will be offered to parents and teachers, as well as students. The first of these workshops, “Homeschool 101”, took place not long ago. Our staff presented this extremely helpful and informative workshop which covered Washington homeschool law, curriculum options, scheduling a school day, and record keeping. The many families in attendance were equipped, built up, and encouraged as resources were shared and questions were answered. Once again, we’re thanking God for this incredible opportunity to come alongside and support the homeschooling families of SW Washington.

This fall, topics including Homeschooling with Littles, Note-taking, and Classroom Management will be covered in three separate workshops.. These workshops are free for members of FPHRC and $10 for non-members. Our desire at FPHRC is to be a place where homeschooling families can receive support and guidance no matter what season of homeschooling they are in.

If you’re a homeschooling family in SW Washington, we’d love to have you join us for any of our upcoming workshops this fall! Keep an eye out on our events page for more details to come.
