Firmly Planted Goals + Achievements: Ignite Your Faith Summer Camps — Jill Valenti
As spring term draws to an end, you can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from parents and students alike. Another year of hard work has come to a close and our members eagerly enter into the respite of summer.
This year, FPHRC was happy to celebrate the summer season with our IGNITE Summer Camps. In July we were able to shine the light of Jesus to 100 campers in more than 10 different camps and August will bring a group of 100 more campers!
Each morning, we gathered together for group worship and teaching led by our campus chaplain, Matt Ernster. It was a precious sight to see the 17-year-olds worshiping right alongside the toddling 2-year-olds during this chapel time! The camp theme was “igniting your faith” inspired by Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Our teachers really took this theme to heart, sharing their unique testimonies of faith with their campers.
Camps served students of all ages and varied from arts to sports to everything in between. Students in the Children’s Theater gained confidence while acting out Mowgli’s adventures in The Jungle Book while Star Wars campers wielded light sabers in epic battles. The Campfire Kids got a taste of real-life camping complete with s’mores, merit badges, and stories told by flashlight. Other campers got a glimpse of what Firmly Planted has to offer during a regular term with ceramics, arts, fitness, history, Spanish and more.
It’s our greatest joy to bring glory to God by serving the homeschool families in our community! We pray our upcoming camps bear just as much fruit and provide a brief rest to our families in these summer months.
