FPHRC Spotlight: Bringing Stories to Life for God’s Glory – Haley Choate
The FPHRC Center Stage Theater Program
The Firmly Planted Homeschool Resource Center is excited to shine the spotlight on our growing Center Stage Theater program, now under the leadership of our new Theater Department Head, Haley Choate!
Haley brings a passion for the performing arts and a heart for mentoring our Directors who pour countless hours into preparing for their productions and investing into their students, guiding them to use their God-given talents to glorify Jesus Christ both on and off the stage.
This spring, we invite you to experience three exciting productions that showcase the hard work and creativity of our students. On May 2–3, our high school performers will present Anne of Green Gables, bringing Lucy Maud Montgomery’s timeless classic to life with heart, humor, and authenticity. Later in the month, on May 24, our middle-grade actors will dazzle audiences with The Prince and the Pauper, a lively adaptation of Mark Twain’s beloved tale of identity and adventure.
We’re also thrilled to introduce our Center Stage Jr. production of There’s a Giant Spider in Joey’s Front Yard, written by Larry Choate, one of our theology teachers at the Resource Center. This imaginative and fun story gives our early elementary students a wonderful opportunity to shine on stage. Performed as an end-of-term classroom showcase, this short play allows our youngest performers to build confidence, develop teamwork, and experience the joy of storytelling in a supportive environment.
Center Stage Theater isn’t just about performing—it’s a place where students grow in confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Whether participating in Cast, serving behind the scenes in Crew, or contributing to Costuming, every student plays a vital role in bringing each production to life. More importantly, they are learning to use their unique gifts to reflect God’s creativity and glorify Him through storytelling.
To continue growing and improving this impactful program, we are actively applying for grants to upgrade our sound, lighting, and stage equipment. These improvements will enhance the quality of our productions and enrich the experience for both our students and the community.
We encourage you to mark your calendars and come support these amazing young performers! Stay tuned for ticket information and ways you can help support the Center Stage Theater program. Together, let’s celebrate the arts and the joy of storytelling for God’s glory!
