A Message from Heidi St. John, Chairman of the FPF Board

In the hustle and bustle of homeschooling life, where math lessons mix with character training and science experiments occasionally spill on the kitchen floor, one fruit of the Spirit often quietly holds everything together: self-control.

As Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us, self-control is one of the beautiful evidences of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives. For homeschooling families, it’s more than just a virtue—it’s a daily necessity.

For parents, self-control means choosing patience over frustration when the same spelling word is misspelled for the fourth time. It’s modeling calm during chaotic mornings, staying consistent with discipline, and remembering that our tone teaches just as much as our lesson plans. Our children are watching, and what we live always speaks louder than what we say.
